COME SI ARRIVA A CASCINA MACONDO
english HOW TO GET TO CASCINA MACONDO FROM THE SOUTH BELTWAY OF TORINO Exit at Santena. Follow the direction to Poirino. Shortly before Poirino you find a roundpoint with a water fountain and the lights (the are not always on and the water is not always sprinkling), but on the right side of the roundpoint you can see the FAMILA shopping centre. Take the direction to ASTI-ALBA. After hundreds of meters you come across another very big roundpoint. Here you take the direction RIVA PRESSO CHIERI. Then you go straight on till the little church of Borgata Madonna della Rovere, there’s a place to pause. Your shoulders towards the entrance of the church, you see there is a narrow street on the right. Take it, and after 50 meters you (second court) are at Cascina Macondo of Anna and Pietro. FROM THE MOTORWAY PIACENZA-TORINO Nearby Villanova, after the motorway exit, take the direction of Chieri. Go straight on until you find the indication for RIVA PRESSO CHIERI, on your left. You’ll travel on a straight stretch. At the end there is a roundpoint; turn left following the direction TAMAGNONE-AGRIGELATERIA SAN PE’. Go straight on, passing on the railway and motorways overpasses. After 300 meters you find the little church of Borgata Madonna della Rovere, there’s a place to pause. Your shoulders towards the entrance of the church, you see there is a narrow street on the right. Take it, and after 50 meters (second court) you are at Cascina Macondo of Anna and Pietro. COMING FROM CHIERI On the main road to ASTI you find the indication RIVA PRESSO CHIERI, on your right side. Enter the town and cross it completely. At its end you find two small roundpoints, one really close to the other. Follow the direction TAMAGNONE-AGRIGELATERIA SAN PE’. Go straight on, passing on the railway and motorways overpasses. After 300 meters you find the little church of Borgata Madonna della Rovere, there’s a place to pause. COMING FROM ASTI THROUGH THE MAIN ROAD Following the main road to Torino you find the indication RIVA PRESSO CHIERI, on you left. The there is a straight stretch. At the end you find two small roundpoints, one really close to the other. Turn left to the direction TAMAGNONE-AGRIGELATERIA SAN PE’. Go straight on, passing on the railway and motorways overpasses. After 300 meters you find the little church of Borgata Madonna della Rovere, there’s a place to pause. After tens of meters you find a roundpoint with a water fountain and the lights (the are not always on and the water is not always sprinkling), but on the right side of the roundpoint you have the FAMILA shopping centre as reference. Take the direction to ASTI-ALBA. After hundreds of meters you come across another very big roundpoint. Here you take the direction RIVA PRESSO CHIERI. LA FORESTERIA "TIZIANO TERZANI" DI CASCINA MACONDO
Il nome "Macondo" che abbiamo dato alla nostra Cascina nel 1992 " Macondo era allora un villaggio di venti case di argilla e di canna selvatica costruito sulla riva di un fiume dalle acque diafane che rovinavano per un letto di pietre levigate, bianche ed enormi come uova preistoriche. Il mondo era così recente, che molte cose erano prive di nome, e per citarle bisognava indicarle col dito. Tutti gli anni verso il mese di marzo, una famiglia di zingari cenciosi piantava la tenda vicino al villaggio, e con grande frastuono di zufoli e tamburi faceva conoscere le nuove invenzioni. Prima portarono la calamita. Uno zingaro corpulento, con barba arruffata e mani di passero, che si presentò col nome di Melquìades, diede una truculenta manifestazione pubblica di quella che egli stesso chiamava l'ottava meraviglia dei savi alchimisti della Macedonia. Andò di casa in casa trascinando due lingotti metallici, e tutti sbigottirono vedendo che i paioli, le padelle, le molle del focolare e i treppiedi cadevano dal loro posto, e i legni scricchiolavano per la disperazione dei chiodi e delle viti che cercavano di schiavarsi, e perfino gli oggetti perduti da molto tempo comparivano dove pur erano stati lungamente cercati, e si trascinavano in turbolenta sbrancata dietro ai ferri magici di Melquìades…"
